LASER SKIN REJUVENATION
Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

Laser pigmentation removal is an effective non-invasive treatment for freckles, spots, and other blemishes. The procedure reduces the look of stretch marks, while also helping to promote a more youthful look and boosting collagen production.

Using our PicoWay and GentleMax Pro laser machines, our qualified doctors and nurses are able to treat all kinds of skin pigments, such as:

  • Freckles: Localised clusters of melanin due to UV exposure
  • Dyschromia: A change of the colour of the skin and/or nails
  • Nevus of Ota: Blue-shaded pigmenting of facial skin
  • Solar Lentigines: “Age Spots” due to UV exposure
  • Pigmented Birthmarks: Cluster of melanin, usually present at birth

Targeted laser treatments provide an excellent solution to uneven skin tone and pigmentation. We can treat a variety of issues, adjusting our approach to suit your skin condition and concerns.

PIGMENTATION REMOVAL
How does laser pigmentation removal work?

Our PicoWay laser is able to actively target the melanin in your pigmented lesion. The pigment absorbs the energy from the laser as it fires, causing the pigment to shatter, which allows your body to remove the fragments naturally. The greater accuracy of the laser means it does not cause damage to the surrounding tissue, so you have less discomfort and get results faster.

The process can depend on your exact treatment areas and which methods are being used. We use the highest quality devices and techniques in order to deliver advanced results. Dual wavelength settings allow us to tailor the process, based on your specific needs.

Generally, the treatment process is comfortable, and you may be given protective eyewear. The laser handpiece will deliver pulses of laser energy into your skin. This energy is absorbed by the treatment area and creates a heating effect. This breaks up the pigment into smaller fragments, which is then removed by your immune system. Following treatment, depending on the lesion being treated, you may develop a darkened crust which will flake away on its own over the coming days. Typically a course of 3 treatments is recommended to fully remove pigmented lesions.

Am I a good candidate for laser pigmentation removal?

If you have unwanted pigment, freckles, or spots, laser pigmentation removal offers a quality, non-invasive option. The treatment can address large or visible skin blemishes and help restore a smoother overall skin tone. As well as this, the process triggers your skin to produce more collagen and elastin. These are vital fibres in your connective tissue that help your skin to appear vibrant and healthy.

Ideal patients for this treatment are concerned about uneven skin tone and do not have underlying health conditions. It can be an excellent solution for both men and women who wish to attain a clearer and more youthful facial appearance with a quick, convenient treatment. How many laser pigmentation removal treatments will I need?

The number of laser pigmentation removal treatments required can vary depending on factors such as skin tone, which area of the body we are treating, and the type of pigment. We now combine the use of specific cosmeceutical products that aid with cell turnover and health through the course of treatment. As a result, you can achieve maximised results and avoid any unneeded risks.

We suggest booking in to see one of our skilled doctors or nurses for a consultation to decide whether laser pigmentation removal is the right choice for you.

PicoWay pigmentation removal cost

The cost of skin pigmentation removal is dependent on the size and location of the treatment area, as well as the type of pigment. Since every patient has different skin concerns and requirements for treatment, we will discuss costs in more detail during your consultation. Laser pigmentation removal aftercare

Due to the type of laser used for treatment, there is no damage to surrounding tissue during treatment, and any healing following treatment is minimal.

Following the treatment it is normal to feel red and warm in treated areas, and typically will resolve in a day or two.

It is also normal for any pigmentation may go darker/change colour after the laser treatment, and micro-crusting may occur for larger lesions when treated.

It is important not to pick and let this fall away naturally over the days following treatment.

Results may take 4-6 weeks to be visible and a minimum course of 3 treatments is recommended.

It is important that you follow any aftercare advice in order to aid the healing process and maximise your treatment outcomes. Post-treatment advice may include:

At Begone Skin and Body Clinic, our treatments are:

  • Avoid any heat for 2 days following treatment in order to avoid causing inflammation. This includes hot showers, saunas, and strenuous activity.
  • Avoid rubbing of treated areas.
  • Do not use fake tans or make up on the treated area until healed.
  • Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 50+ at all times while healing.
  • Apply a cold compress if required.
  • Utilise recommended skin care as instructed by your practitioner.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and body hydrated.

Risks & complications

The side effects of treatment should be mild, but some patients may experience swelling, tingling, itching, or blotchiness. The skin may appear slightly lighter or darker for a few days after treatment and return to a normal tone within a week, and temporary darkening of pigmentation is normal. Side effects should resolve on their own, as long as you take care of your skin and practice sun protection. You should follow your practitioner’s guidance in order to avoid any skin irritation and achieve results you are happy with.

Please contact the clinic if you notice any abnormal side effects after your laser pigmentation removal.
